It's not free, and the description of what it fits didn't match the ceiling unit I bought. I took a risk and bought it to try it out, and found that it fits just fine.
This product appears to be well made and I would be happy if it functions well, however, it will not fit 4x.
The hook hanging down from the grating is the same height as the rest, it has a 0.25" wire thickness, and the inside spacing of the hook is 3.
I purchased these to go with my wall shelf and they worked well for me.
It's easy to slide it onto a ceiling rack or shelf, and it holds at least 30 pounds without bending out of shape.

The grate is 3 1/4 inches wide and has a wire thickness of another 1/4 inch.

If you want to hang things the wrong way, I'd rather not recommend them.

They do not work, that's a waste of money.

These are just hooks that slip up and on top of the existing rack from under, hook on the back and the pull down flat.

Will they be able to hook on to the purlins of a metal building?

No, they only hook on to the shelving.
