My name is Jared Shapiro and I’m writing to you on behalf of Hostage Tape, the strongest and most comfortable mouth tape on the market.

Recently, TikTok has seen an increase in conversations around mouth taping and the sleep benefits of it. This trend encourages people to breathe through their nose instead of their mouth while they sleep. While it’s difficult to distinguish which trends are legit and which are based on myth, mouth taping is one medically approved trend that should be on your radar.

I would love to introduce you to Hostage Tape. This tape improves the quality of sleep by changing the way people breathe. As 25-50 percent of the population breathes through their mouth, the revolutionary mouth tape encourages nasal breathing at night, leading to better and more restful sleep.

Sleep studies have shown that keeping your mouth shut while sleeping can help reduce or eliminate snoring, increase oxygen uptake and circulation, and decrease stress and anxiety. According to Case Reports in Otolaryngology, mouth breathing in children may adversely impact craniofacial growth and have adverse effects on their behavior, memory, and learning rate.

The National Library of Medicine has also conducted one of many medical studies that showcase mouth taping’s positive results: https://hostagetape.com/pages/learn1

Founded by Alex Neist, an ex-Canadian Football League quarterback, Alex created this product through his obsession with grip tape. A

Apurv : So, I would like to introduce Alex, the founder of Foster. He has created a revolutionary mouth tip that encourages nasal breathing for better sleep, and his obsession with grip tape led to the creation of a product that is improving the sleep quality of thousands.

A

Alex: Thank you so much for having me on the Product Life podcast. I really appreciate it.

A

Apurv : So, Alex, what inspired you to create Hostage tape and how did you come up with the idea for a mouth tip to encourage nasal breathing?

A

Alex: Well, I came up with the idea after going through a divorce actually. When I was separated from my wife, I started looking inward and realized that my snoring was a serious problem. It had driven her into another bedroom, and things deteriorated from there. I started researching different mouthpieces and things I could do to try and solve the problem, but nothing worked very well. Then, I came across an article by James Nester, where he talked about a 30-day experiment they did at Stanford Medical Center where they plugged their nose for 30 days and just measured what happened. They ended up developing sleep apnea and deadly levels of blood toxicity. To kick-start themselves back into being healthy, they started mouth taping at night and were forced to nasal breathe. They were healthy within a few days, and that was when I realized that mouth breathing might be the issue.

A

Apurv : That's interesting. How does Hostage tape differ from other mouth tapes on the market, and what makes it the strongest and most comfortable option?

A

Alex: We position Hostage tape to be the strongest and most comfortable mouth tape on the planet. What we found was that none of the other tapes on the market were very strong, so for people with strong jaws like mine, they wouldn't hold. We needed to make a tape that was strong enough to hold a strong jaw like mine, and that's what we did. Yeah, so that's how Hostage Tape came about. We wanted to create a tape that was strong enough for people with strong jaws, but also comfortable enough to wear all night. And that's exactly what we did. We use a medical-grade adhesive that is strong enough to hold all night, but also gentle enough to remove without causing any irritation. And we've also made sure that the tape is hypoallergenic and latex-free, so it's safe for anyone to use.

A

Apurv : That's great. And I know you mentioned earlier that nasal breathing can improve sleep quality. Can you talk a bit more about that and how Hostage Tape can help with that?

A

Alex: Absolutely. So when you breathe through your mouth at night, it can cause all sorts of problems. It can cause snoring, which can disrupt your sleep and your partner's sleep. It can also dry out your mouth and throat, which can lead to infections and other health issues. And it can even lead to sleep apnea, which is a serious condition that can cause you to stop breathing in your sleep. But when you breathe through your nose, it actually helps to filter the air and humidify it, which can improve your sleep quality. It also helps to regulate your breathing, which can help to reduce snoring and other sleep-related problems. And that's where Hostage Tape comes in. By encouraging nasal breathing, it can help to improve your sleep quality and reduce snoring and other sleep-related problems.

A

Apurv : That's really interesting. And I know that Hostage Tape has been getting a lot of positive reviews from customers. Can you share some of those reviews with us?

A

Alex: Yeah, we've been getting some really amazing feedback from our customers. People are saying that Hostage Tape has completely changed their sleep quality and that they wake up feeling more rested and refreshed than ever before. We've also had people say that it's helped them to reduce snoring and other sleep-related problems, and that it's been a total game-changer for them. One of my favorite reviews was from a customer who said that Hostage Tape has helped them to feel like they're getting a full night's sleep for the first time in years. And that's exactly why we created this product - to help people get the best possible sleep and feel their best every day.

A

Apurv : Well, it sounds like you've created a really innovative product that's making a real difference in people's lives. Thanks so much for joining us today and sharing your story with us.

A

Alex: Thank you for having me. It's been a pleasure.
