About COSORI Food Dehydrator for Jerky
93% appreciated the timer functionality
I can set the timer and temperature on the dehydrator and walk away. The timer goes off adequately so I can hear it and I check on the dehydration process to see if everything was adequately dehydrated or if I need to rehydrate for a little longer. The dehydrator holds the temperature and time settings so I don’t have to reset it each time, unless I am changing the product to one that needs longer time and different temperature.
I have used the dehydrator about a dozen times and love the cut off timer because it is very convenient.
90% were impressed with the temperature range, whereas 10% weren't
I tested the dehydrator with three different meat thermometers and found that it only reached 140 degrees after 4 hours, despite the ad material indicating it would hit 165 degrees.
90% appreciated the temperature control , yet 10% didn't
The dehydrator holds temperature and time settings, so I don't have to reset it every time, unless I'm changing to a product that requires different settings.
The temperature probe held steady at 165 degrees and there were no offensive odors, which I did not experience.
As we go up, the temperature difference increases. At 135 degrees, it is over 165 degrees and at 165 degrees, it will blow out air over 225 degrees.
I tested the dehydrator with three different meat thermometers and found that it does not reach the temperature it claims to, despite the ad material indicating otherwise.
86% liked the size and design, but 14% desired more
I noticed others complaining about the distance between the trays not being high enough, but I found a solution by reading the manual and placing the trays higher. I have not faced any issues with the distance between the trays.
I appreciate the adjustable tray size and notches on the sides that provide an extra 3/4 inch of height for large papaya spears.
I found that the dehydrator only closes properly with items thinner than 1 inch and the racks are flimsy.
90% highlighted the silent operation
I can hear a soft buzz in the middle of the night in a completely silent house, but it won't keep me up or wake me. The noise level is not bad.
84% liked the capacity
I compared the capacity of this dehydrator with my previous dehydrator (Excalibur) and found that my previous dehydrator could hold more.
64% found the airflow system helpful, while 36% encountered issues
At higher temperature settings, there is a significant increase in the difference between the temperature setting and the output air temperature. For instance, at 135 degrees, the output air temperature is over 165 degrees, and at 165 degrees, it exceeds 225 degrees.
