I didn't count the ply because it may well be 7 but it could also be the thinnest maple ply money can buy and be junk, so I bought this for my son, who is 11, and was very excited.
If you want to learn how toollie or go down your first ramps, then this isn't the best option for you.
Is this a decent board for beginners? The deck is soft for my taste but it is spaced to stop wheel bite and there are spacers under the metal trucks to give distance between the board and wheels when you ride.
It is worth the money for the board to have the slide marks grind across the graphics and trucks, since most skaters know if their at a park and see the same kid or skater with perfect graphics they are new to skating.
I went to look for one that would suit me most and this one caught my eye, it has a different color scheme than what I saw in the pics, but it is really good.

Where do you want the board to be?
This listing is mixed with 7.5/ 7.75 and 8". If you hover on the deck, it will tell you the size.
