  • What users have to say about Pentel Arts Gel Roller for Fabric, 1.0mm Bold Lines, Permanent, Black Ink

The ink is very bold and flows nicely, but I have to draw more than once when I want to make a line from right to left.

After testing several pens to make sure that the ink wouldn't run or fade, I think this pen is the best for you, and one of the easiest ways to heat set the ink is with a hot iron.

I used this to add some detail to hand dyed silk floral, but the black was too intense and the line was a little wider than I wanted it to be.

The tip makes it easy to go thick or thin with your lines, and there is no bleed, as I found out when I washed a small piece of fabric with a word written on it prior to using the pen on my project.

The pens are so smooth that they don't wash out of the fabric, but I'm not sure if this is required.

    FAQ

    Q:

Will they work on heavy fabric that is not smooth like canvas?

    A:

You would need to work slowly to get good coverage, that's the tip I used.

    Q:

How long do you think ink in pen will last?

    A:

I've had it for a while and it's hard to see.

    Q:

I am having a problem with the dry up of the great fabric marking pens. Do you have a solution?

    A:

It's just a matter of making sure the lid is tight. I haven't had the drying up quick with this pen as much as with others I've tried.

    Q:

I used it on 2 quilt labels for baby quilts to give, but the ink faded and I don't know if I should heat set it.

    A:

The best place to get information on product orientation is to contact Pentel of America.

    Q:

Would this work for my purpose, if I sketched on the back of a denim jacket before painting it with fabric paint?

    A:

I use this Gel Roller for writing labels on my quilts and it's not thin at all, if that works for you, I think it would do the job.
