About Vondior AM FM Battery Operated Portable Pocket Radio
Overall Feedback:
83% positive
80% were impressed with the portability
The radio is compact and light enough to carry in my pocket. It weighs about as much as a smartphone.
64% liked the frequency range, but 36% didn't
The radio has good sensitivity and can pick up many stations if tuned carefully, but it cannot produce wide range audio like a radio with bigger speakers.
I was told that the radio cannot pick-up NOAA signals and that there is a different kind of radio for those specific frequencies.
63% were satisfied with display and controls, whereas 37% weren't
The radio has an old-school dial with numbers and no LCD display.
Regulating the sound is difficult due to the erratic volume control knob.
The On/Off & Mode labels are not easily accessible and require rotation of the unit to change function, which can be annoying until I become familiar with the design.
81% appreciated the audio quality
I am impressed with the incredible audio quality and volume of the radio's small mono speaker.
66% appreciated the antenna length and design, while 34% struggled
Hanging a 4-inch or 6-inch square of aluminum from my antenna can increase or double its length.
The antenna is externally mounted and easy to replace. I compared it with KA 200s antenna which is internal and hard to replace.
My only complaint after two weeks of usage is that I wish the antenna was internal instead of folding down the side after collapsing.
The antenna of my radio does not have a continuous soldered connection to the Radio Chassis. When the sheet metal screws lose their frictional connection to the Radio Chassis, the sound level varies from staticy and low to staticy and variable.
Once the antenna disconnects from the radio chassis, it cannot be effectively reconnected due to the size of the case and general design. The present system that connects with metal to metal friction of a single sheet metal screw is not effective.
When pulled out, the antenna extends to 13.5 inches.
