I attached the chuck to the tail stock for boring holes in cups and bowls and then put it in the spindle taper to see if there were any.
I have other products from Penn State Industry and am happy with the chuck/finishing jaws I have from them. When I needed a chuck for my lathe, I grabbed this one, it's been on my lathe and worked and held my drill and Forstner bits true.
If you want to drill holes for bottle openers, pizza cutter, ice cream scoops and other turnings on your lathe, you'll want to use this chuck. Would recommend this chuck for drilling holes for bottle openers, pizza cutter, ice cream scoops and other turnings projects on your lathe
I have been using this chuck for a few years now and I have to say that it is a very good tool for drilling large holes on my wood lathe.
This is a good purchase and I was very pleased with the price, as you can sometimes find sight-unseen online purchases.
Question & Answers
Does it come with the chuck key?
It comes with a key, it was a great purchase for me, I need to make sure I have the correct morse taper number.
I lost my chuck key, so which one do I order?
I believe it is a standard chuck, but I would suggest taking it to your local hardware store to find one that fits.
What is the smallest bit size that this will take?
If this chuck goes down to 1/16" as Chuck Burch suggested, that's probably good enough for most everyone.
Will this fit a shop fox?
You should check the specifications of the W1758 to see if it is compatible with the Shop Fox W1758.
I don't know which option is 1/3'shank to 1/2'claw.
