I can carry all my notes, highlighters, papers, steno notebook and a textbook in the portfolio-case-ring-binders and it still zips up.
The zip pouch can only hold a few pencils, a calculator and a ruler.

I noticed that the inside left cover has an expanding file folder, 1 velcro pocket, and 1 zippered pocket, the inside right cover has a stretchy pocket, and those giant 3 rings feel very stable.
