My wife and her family believe it's better to have it if you're attacked by a bear, and they have lived up here a long time than I have, so I trust their opinions.
I'm glad I had the experience, but I think Sabre red is the most brutal stuff on the market, even though some people may have less of a reaction and recover more quickly than I did.
This is a very smart feature because you wouldn't want your first use to happen during a real emergency and not be comfortable with how the unit is set up.
I have a reason for my preference and I am happy that Sabre makes a product that is straight pepper spray.
I have had several brands and sprays this year but this model is the best I have had.
Question & Answers
Is it possible to replace the spray when you run out?
When the spray runs out, it can be replaced.
Is it possible for this to explode from the pressure in my checked luggage?
I don't think the pepper spray would explode if you put it in a can.
Is there a way to protect my toddlers from accidental exposure?
I thought about the fact that my toddler might discharge the pepper spray, and that's against the need to keep it away from curious hands.
How does it spray?
I went with the stream in case there was wind to try and keep as much wind from blowing back at me in case I needed to use it. It also reaches slightly further than cone or fog.
I want to take this backpacking but I'm worried it will go off in my pack and I don't know if there's a cap or lock mechanism to stop it.
It's not guaranteed that it won't open by accident, so attach it to your pack.
