The camera can capture an adequate amount of distance around the vehicle without any other outside lights to help increase the perimeter captured.
I have noticed that the camera has a wide angle and captures a lot of the road. However, the center of the screen makes objects seem further away, but they will magnify as they get closer. This is a good trade-off to be able to capture a lot of the road.
The camera has a limited field of view, as I noticed a blind spot a few feet behind the car and the display showed STOP at a distance farther than necessary.
