About Carson MiniMight 6x18mm Pocket Monocular with Carabiner Clip (MM-618)
Overall Feedback:
72% positive
84% highlighted the great field of vision, but 16% faced difficulties
I was impressed with the field of vision at 21x and am confident I will have no issue seeing my 223 hits at 100, maybe even 200.
My field of vision is not the widest, especially for eyeglass wearers, but it is adequate.
As I go with higher magnifications, the depth of field becomes narrower. The distance in focus around the object becomes shorter and any small movement of focus knobs can make me irritated.
The monocular is not useful for viewing objects farther than 30 feet. There are massive amounts of chromatic aberrations and very low contrast.
84% were satisfied with the image quality, while 16% weren't
I have 3 pairs of monoculars that are sharp and optically very good.
During peak daylight, I can get crispy crystal clear magnification from 7x up to 15-18x.
In low light situations, the image quality is fantastic, but it gets darker with increased zoom.
I have noticed that the focus ring is smooth and brings in a sharp image. Additionally, the optics are surprisingly good.
The focus ring is smooth and brings in a sharp image. The optics are surprisingly good.
The image quality is very poor with massive chromatic aberrations, low contrast, and no sharpness. I cannot read license plates from cars across the street.
At 10x and 8x magnification levels, the image was too shaky for me to find it useful.
77% found it easy to use, but 23% experienced difficulties
I found the monocular easy to use and was surprised by the good optics quality.
I found the focus and zoom knobs of the monocular easy to use.
I found the Roxant Viper monocular to be of good quality, compact design, and easy to use. The optics were surprisingly good and the adjustment was the easiest to use.
If the magnification dial is between 7 and center, I can handle the monoculars with ease, but beyond that I require some form of stabilization.
65% liked night vision capabilities, but 35% experienced issues
I can easily see license plate numbers and read street signs down the street with this monocular.
The vision quality is very poor. Objects at close range are mediocre and anything farther than 30 feet is not visible. There are massive amounts of chromatic aberrations and very low contrast. It feels like looking through a hazy day, with no sharpness at all. License plates from cars across the street cannot be read.
80% liked the lightweight design
The monoculars are small in size but big in features.
78% impressed by its high magnification power, but 22% didn't
I can manage the magnification from 7x to around 15x, but a tripod is required for >15x.
At higher magnifications, I must be gentle with the focus. A slight twitch with the smooth focus dial could be a pleasure or a nightmare.
79% praised the crystal-clear optics
I can easily see license plate numbers and read street signs down the street with this monocular. I can also easily read house numbers.
73% praised the smartphone compatibility
The monocular can focus down to a very short range, making it great for observing small objects like butterflies, bugs, flowers, etc.
I found the Roxant Viper monocular to be easy to use with a compact and lightweight design, good quality optics, and easy adjustment.
