The jump starter has an 'over-ride' mode which allows me to use it as a substitute battery.
I used the jump starter on my 3.5 litre V6 Mercedes, which was left standing with the lights on, and it started as if the battery was brand new.
I suggest using GB70 for engines higher than 4.5 liters, especially for trucks or big SUVs. GB40 may give a weak start due to weak cables unable to handle the amount of amps inside the device.

Jump-starters are extremely safe with built-in safety features that prevent sparks even if the battery is completely dead.
I love the safety features of the jump-starter. It won't let me cross the polarity and won't work unless the battery has at least 2 volts. I must use the bypass button for less than 2 volts, forcing me to make sure I know what I'm doing. I also don't have to worry about killing a cell in my car battery.

A booster pac can supplement a weakened battery to get it over the hump to start my vehicle but it cannot start my vehicle by itself. The battery needs to have some residual power to start.

The jump starter is small, powerful, and can start any gasoline power vehicle in just about any condition. It is also functionally portable.
The jump-starter is very large, but it has monster starting capability and extra features like an adaptor for other accessories and USB jacks for smart phones.
I can get a 12V cigarette lighter socket right off the pack, no need for building an adapter that turns the battery clamps into a useable 12v socket.
