About Cuisinart DLC-1 Mini-Prep Food Processor
Overall Feedback:
65% positive
76% appreciated its versatility
The food processor has two speeds, Lo and Hi. The Lo speed is perfect for a rough chop on nearly anything and the Hi-speed makes quick work to mince whatever you would want minced. The blades are even reversible so that this can be used as a grinder.
80% praised its low noise level, while 20% found it too loud
The food processor is noisy and the blade requires extreme caution while reversing.
The food processor is a bit noisy, but it's only for a few seconds and not a big issue.
The machine is very loud and has two settings - Lo and Hi. I tried the Hi setting for about 5 seconds and decided to run it longer on the Lo setting. The Lo setting is also loud, but tolerable. The machine only runs when one of the settings is being manually pressed down, making it difficult to operate without constant supervision.
My top complaint is that the unit makes an extremely loud and high-pitched noise.
84% liked its powerful motor, while 16% found it underpowered
The motor of my food processor is tiny yet powerful. It lasted for 12 years until it died, making it a great workhorse.
Smoke came out of the motor unit while grinding spices.
The motor is powerful, but it's difficult to handle the food processor without a handle. My hands slipped, and I had to wipe them off every time before I could do a second batch.
74% liked how easy it is to use
Assembling and disassembling the food processor is quick and effortless.
I have been using mini choppers for a while, but this one is by far the easiest for assemblage, use and clean up. There is no need to turn the entire bowl for the chopping process to work or a million dials. It is really easy to use.
75% liked its durable build, yet 25% found it flimsy
The plastic cracked at the bottom in the ribbed area, indicating poor durability of the product, even though I hardly used it.
The plastic bowl and cover do not fit precisely and the overall quality of the product feels cheaper.
I accidentally dropped the food processor while drying it and it promptly chipped and cracked in half after falling onto a wood floor.
77% highlighted its easy cleaning, whereas 23% found it difficult to clean
Separating the blade from its base makes it easier to clean the food processor thoroughly.
Cleaning the food processor is easy as the small bowl, kid and blade go right in the top rack of the dishwasher.
Cleaning the center blade part is very difficult due to the gaps surrounding the shaft.
79% appreciated its large capacity
The food processor is small in size but strong enough for my kind of cooking, which involves pureeing onions, tomatoes, making ginger garlic pastes, coconut chutneys, pesto, and other pureeing tasks.
It's not suitable for making bread dough or huge amounts of hummus, but it's perfect for finely dicing garlic, celery and shallots for risotto or making a small batch of pesto.
81% liked the high-quality blades, but 19% found them dull
I find it difficult to separate the blade from the spindle when the rpms are high and it gets locked in place.
The food processor has two speeds, Lo and Hi. The Lo speed is perfect for a rough chop on nearly anything and the Hi-speed makes quick work to mince whatever you would want minced. The blades are even reversible so that this can be used as a grinder.
I made homemade peanut butter and was surprised at how well it worked.
