I had difficulty adjusting the lamp because the metal threaded rods were not fully finished. I threaded the rods and applied pipe threading oil, gently rocking them in quarter turns until they were properly finished.
I suggest tightening the goose necks as the lamp heads tend to move/fall with a little vibration from a passing truck.

The 3 watt LED bulbs equivalent to 25 watt bulbs are as bright as the soft white 25 watt bulb and don't get hot, which is a win-win situation that could also affect the shades.
I used 60W bulbs and one of the sockets slightly melted. The lamp has a warning to not use bulbs higher than 40W.

After just two days of normal use, my foot switch overheated, melted plastic all over the carpet, and stopped working.
The second one stopped working, indicating a problem with the switch and control of the floor-lamp.
