I find it easy to clean the kettle with boiling one or two passes of 50/50 vinegar/water solution even without scrubbing. This helps me maintain the electric kettle and renders the purpose of the screen irrelevant.

It heats up very quickly, taking only 3-4 minutes to heat up 1.0 to 1.2 liters to 175 degrees.
I can quickly get more hot water for another pot or a cup of tea with this kettle.
I can heat it to 200 degrees in three to four minutes while grinding the beans and warming up the French press with hot water from the sink.
I lowered the temperature control to 160 and it takes about 3-4 minutes to reach the desired temperature.
