I experienced a false alarm due to the update which ruined the alarm equipment. There was no audible or visible alarm siren or lights, and no call from the monitoring department. The only indication of an alarm was the police showing up at my door, resulting in a false alarm bill for $400. This negative feedback is regarding the alert accuracy feature of DIY home security systems.
The doorbell feature has a significant delay, making it practically useless as a real-time alert system.
There are no alerts for when a sensor is triggered other than the chime on the base station, making self-monitoring difficult.

I can customize the alerts and sound of the main siren for each sensor in each of the three modes - OFF, HOME, or AWAY. The system also has 'Secret Alerts' that can be set for each sensor to send notifications without sounding an alarm. This shows my experience with the customization options of the diy-home-security-systems.
