About Arlo Home Security System - Wired Keypad Sensor Hub, (5) 8-in-1 Sensors
Overall Feedback:
81% positive
63% were impressed with alert accuracy, however 37% weren't
I faced a false alarm while vacuuming and the alarm system mistook it for a carbon monoxide alarm, indicating negative feedback on the alert accuracy feature of DIY home security systems.
I faced a false fire alarm and the caller was panicking, indicating negative feedback on the alert accuracy feature of DIY home security systems.
I find that the system frequently arms itself and the alarm sound is ear piercing.
70% appreciated the customization options, yet 30% didn't
I noticed that the app has changed from a camera monitoring app to an alarm system app with 3 hard coded modes (Standby, Arm Home, Arm Away). The system is always in one of those modes, and you have to set up all your camera actions, notifications, and recordings for each device in EACH MODE! This expresses my negative feedback regarding the customization options of diy-home-security-systems.
83% found the installation easy
The installation process of the security system was quick and simple. The keypad hub uses an outlet and I followed the connection instructions on the app. The sensors were also easy to install. The kit comes with screws and a mount for certain areas that was not ideal for the adhesive (although the adhesive is pretty strong).
I faced a false alarm while vacuuming and the alarm system mistook it for a carbon monoxide alarm, indicating negative feedback on the alert accuracy feature of DIY home security systems.
The home base notifies of all open and close events detected by the sensors, which may be overwhelming for some. However, the controller app is easy to navigate and allows customization of sensor settings to minimize or turn off notifications.
I experienced a false alarm due to the update which ruined the alarm equipment. There was no audible or visible alarm siren or lights, and no call from the monitoring department. The only indication of an alarm was the police showing up at my door, resulting in a false alarm bill for $400. This negative feedback is regarding the alert accuracy feature of DIY home security systems.
