About Omron Evolv Bluetooth Wireless Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor
Overall Feedback:
83% positive
81% liked its compact size
I like the monitor because it is not connected to a tube and a base and fits and adjusts easily to my upper arm.
I purchased an Omron full-size arm cuff product which worked great for years but was too bulky to travel with.
The one-piece design is a great improvement over the old one and is simple and portable.
72% appreciated the power source, although 28% found it less reliable
I use 4 AAA batteries for the BP7000 as it does not support an AC adapter.
The blood pressure monitor is battery powered and the battery compartment is awkward to access.
66% liked the cuff size and fit, although 34% found it uncomfortable
I use the cuff to get accurate readings by putting it on and sitting to bring it to heart level.
My loose arm skin has not yet tightened and it is interfering with the Evolv's sensing technology.
The cuff is difficult to position and the instrument pod attached to it limits where I can grab and pull the cuff. I expect there will be a lot of broken units due to people pulling on the instrument pod to tighten and position the cuff.
76% highlighted the accuracy, yet 24% found it inconsistent
The BP and heart rate readings are very accurate and match almost exactly the readings taken on my Omron Series 10.
My physical therapist friend recommended this brand for its accuracy.
When I am slightly stressed, the blood pressure monitor shows higher pressures and lower when resting.
My monitor readings were 20-30 points higher than the cardiologist's monitor.
The wrist cuff's accuracy is horrible and it regularly shows a difference of 30-50 points.
I calibrated the Omron device against a traditional machine with a stethoscope and found that the readings were way off. Even the nurse who took my reading tried the cuff herself and came in at 140/87 with the Omron. This negative feedback expresses my experience with the accuracy and precision of blood-pressure-monitors.
The cuff provided fits a range of sized arms, which is important for obtaining accurate blood pressure measurements. It is also quick and does not repeatedly inflate.
The monitor displays previous and current readings, making it easy to compare numbers. It also downloads to the app easily and provides a great record to show my doctor.
