I replaced old style bulbs with LED bulbs because they are brighter, use less power and don't fail when judges come by. Based on my experience, I can say that LED bulbs are a better option.

I ignored the advice of people on lawn tractor forums who advised against using LEDs because the reflectors were not designed for LED bulbs and they were not wired for LED bulbs. I found that these bulbs give me super bright light ahead of my tractor which will come in handy when I am using the snow blower attachment in a blizzard. The usual 1156 bulb is best used as a trunk or glove-box bulb, not a headlight. I have used these bulbs and found them to be awesome and highly recommended.
