I had to install multiple scanning apps to get the scan function working.
I found the scanning software frustrating because it did not allow me to change the file name before scanning and saving, and I had to rename the file in Windows later.

I have noticed that the default setting on the printer for regular paper produces a slightly light page and the ink will last two years on that setting. I also tried the setting for best output on regular paper and the printing was a lot slower, but the results were very acceptable.
