After some time, the printer stops showing up as a print option under iOS when everything is connected to the wireless network.
I spent 18 hours on the phone with Apple's top-tier tech support and engineers and 6 hours with Brother's tech support. It's clear that the printer is no longer compatible with Mac OS 11 or 12 and Brother is not interested in resolving the issue.
