I am happy with the result and not sure how many coats are required to get the straight colour on previously stained wood.

The wood stain is a bit sticky for a few days, but I put my computer and monitor on it after about 12 hours of dry time and nothing stuck to it or left any marks.
The stain took a while to dry.

The final finish is slightly satin-like and not shiny, but we need an additional top coat for durability.

I have found this wood stain to be the best I have used. It covers well, dries quickly, and gives a beautiful finish to nicks and scratches when matching for a new look to older chairs.
I expected the color to be deeper because of the soft woods, but two coats provided a decent color richness on the maple.
I am disappointed with the product's performance as a stain or varnish. It brushes off with every second stroke, acts more like paint than a stain, covers the grain, and remains matte even after 2 coats.
My only complaint is with the color/finish of the product.
