Overall Feedback:
87% positive
69% praised the color quality, while 31% noticed unevenness
The stain exceeded my expectations and when combined with Varathane English Chestnut, it adds the ideal brown tone. The combination just cant get better (imo).
The wood-stain is pink instead of white, not as per the specifications. I tested it on spare wood and it also turned out to be pink.
67% appreciated the fast drying time, though 33% experienced slow drying
It is recommended to wait for at least 48 hours before applying the second coat of stain or polyurethane, even though the stain takes 24 hours to dry fully.
69% liked the long-lasting finish, but 31% noticed it didn't hold up
I have been using this product for the last 12 years because of the coloration it imparts on rich wood grains.
I recommend this stain for its soft and elegant gray color. It is likely that I will use it on wood by itself in the future due to its durability.
When I purchased another can of stain, I found that the formula had changed and it no longer matches all the work I have already done.
I compared the stain to paint and found that it went on very dark and did not wipe off at all.
I had to apply two coats of Minwax Antique Oil finish after staining to get a little bit more shine and add some protection as the stain came out very matte.
69% praised the high-gloss finish
I am satisfied with the finish quality of the wood-stain as it allows me to see the wood grain through the stain, which was exactly what I was hoping to achieve.
65% liked the low-odor formula, though 35% found it strong
I recommend doing the wood-stain outdoors as it has an odor.
I would prefer the stain to leave a more grey color.
I was surprised by the grey color of the stain, which was not expected based on the picture on the can or the sample I saw at the store.
The stain is very dark and could pass for black paint.
The stain exceeded my expectations and when combined with Varathane English Chestnut, it adds the ideal brown tone. The combination just cant get better (imo).
I noticed that there were no issues with bubbles or yellowing, indicating good color quality of the wood-stain.
