After applying Howard Butcher Block Conditioner to my unmaintained butcher block surface, it turned into a beautiful golden stain-resistant finish.

Combining beeswax and mineral oil has effectively protected my wood from food stains and water damage, even around the sink area.
This product provides a more waterproof coating and will really protect the butcher block.
I suggest warming the oil mix slightly before applying it to the wood so that the wax melts and is absorbed, which helps to seal the top of the board and prevent contamination from food products.
The wood-conditioner-wax-oil provides a protective surface to the wood, and water beads up on it nicely, giving me time to clean without things soaking into the wood.
