About ASUS AX5400 WiFi 6 Gaming Router (RT-AX82U)
Overall Feedback:
77% positive
95% found it easy to set up and configure
I was able to set up the network manually if I chose to and the setup was very good.
The setup was quick and easy, including the prompted firmware update at the onset of configuration steps.
Setting up the router was easy and quick with the included setup procedures.
Setting up the router is hassle-free and easy. If I have a previous ASUS router, I can save the config file and load it into this router, and all my connected devices will be up and running.
Setting it up was incredibly easy. I plugged it in, waited a few seconds, went to the website and entered my settings. That's it.
I found the router's user interface easy to set up and rich with information.
I successfully set up the ASUS router without any issues, using the same SSIDs and passwords for separate 2.4 and 5 networks.
93% appreciated the strong and reliable signal
The coverage of this router is strong and complete throughout my 2250 sq foot, 3 floor residence.
I find the range of the wireless-router to be very good.
The range of both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz covers my entire 2 level 2K sq. ft. home with thick plaster and some concrete walling.
93% praised for its lightning-fast speeds
Over WiFi, I can achieve speeds in the several hundred megabit range.
At farther ranges, my notebook computer has substantially increased signal strength and data throughput speed. I compared wired and wireless performance using Speedtest.net and found practically no detectable difference.
I compared the NAS performance of my old ASUS RT-68P with my new RT-AX86U. With the old router, the CPU would max out at 100% while only getting 25MBPs (200Mbps) file transfers. But with the new router, the quad-core 1.8 Ghz CPU showed 50% on 2 cores at the most and was getting 110MBps (880Mbps) fie transfers.
I compared this router with my old one and found it to have better range, a better GUI, quicker Netflix 4k Dolby Vision stream start up, and snappier NEST doorbell app video performance.
Installing the router using the app was very easy. Creating a new topology from scratch was fast and I could experiment with different setups. Adding and configuring each node took me no more than 10 minutes.
The dual-band feature, especially the 5 GHz, provides high-speed connectivity for all my devices, and the long-range coverage ensures a strong signal throughout my entire house, even in areas that were previously dead zones.
