About Comcast xFi Pods WiFi Network Range Extenders
Overall Feedback:
64% positive
66% praised the intuitive app, but 34% struggled
I can remove the xFi pod from the network using the xFi app on my phone.
The connection between the pods is terrible and often requires disconnecting and reconnecting to move to another room.
66% praised the coverage area, but 34% found dead spots
After plugging in two of these range extenders, I instantly had more bars on my phone.
I am disappointed with the weak signal through the wall and the intermittent connection.
I have ordered Google Nest wifi to replace our current system as it is unreliable and doesn't cover the whole house.
72% liked the customizable settings, yet 28% found them limited
The wifi system only switches to 5ghz, which doesn't work with smart plugs, lights, thermostat, and security cameras. This is negative feedback regarding customization settings of whole-home-mesh-wi-fi-systems.
70% found it easy to set up, while 30% had trouble
I was able to set up the system easily using the Bluetooth connection and xfi app.
The setup of the device is one of the worst. It is not easy to connect the xFi pods to the main Gateway and it loses connections randomly, requiring a full restart of the system and going through the entire setup procedure.
The installation instructions were not as easy as indicated.
Installing the pods was easy, but they were slow.
72% liked the ability to support many devices, but 28% didn't
If I connect any device to the pods, it will run extremely slow and the first pod has to be within the normal coverage area.
I had to use 6 pods to make it work, indicating that the system may not support a large number of devices.
The device disconnected all my Alexas and half of my devices, and even killed my wifi extender.
I had to return the product and purchase TP-Link Deco mesh wifi 3-pack, which worked better and was more cost-effective.
66% appreciated the performance, but 34% experienced issues
The performance of our whole-home-mesh-wi-fi-systems is poor. The WiFi signal drops quickly, pods go offline periodically, and switching between zones takes time.
Through the pods, I experienced slow speeds that often decreased further. The maximum speed I achieved was 20 Mbps.
When I tested nearby, the gateway saw speeds of up to 200-300 Mbps despite my poor performance.
If I connect any device to the pods, it will run extremely slow. The first pod has to be within my normal coverage area, so I will end up connecting to it whether or not I want to.
After using the product, I can't imagine going back. I added an extra port/pod in one of my rooms but there was no surface to put it in that wouldn't be unsightly. This product was the perfect solution for me as it is seamless and easy to use with no unsightly cords and it looks exactly like the picture in the ad.
