About TP-Link Deco AXE5400 Tri-Band WiFi 6E Mesh System(Deco XE75)
Overall Feedback:
77% positive
86% praised the intuitive app, but 14% struggled
The android app interface is really nice and has more features than my previous wifi system. I can do specific features with the app.
The app for IOS and the web interface are terrible.
All the router features, including port forwarding and DDNS, must be managed through the app.
I am frustrated with the lack of a web interface for the Deco XE75 units. If I had known about this limitation, I would have kept my previous setup. The app-only option is ridiculous.
I found that the app has limited configuration options.
91% praised the coverage area, but 9% found dead spots
There were no issues with coverage throughout the house, back to the garage, and to the back of the property line.
Wifi coverage is greater throughout the house and outside.
I need a wifi signal extender for devices in the garage, like my nest camera and myQ garage door opener, because of poor coverage in those areas.
There are still plenty of deadspots despite the mesh wifi system being fairly spaced apart and covering most of the house.
88% liked the customizable settings, yet 12% found them limited
Using my own router/firewall and putting the Deco in AP mode resolved the issues.
I configured the system for AP mode instead of Router mode, as I have a dedicated router.
Setting up our new XE75 system was easy and did not require manual control of which bands were operating.
If I had known that there is no web interface available for customization settings, I would have kept my previous setup.
95% found it easy to set up
I found the devices very easy to set up. I downloaded the TP-Link Deco Android app from the Play store and plugged in one of the three routers. Following the instructions on the app, I had one router up and running in a minute.
80% liked the ability to support many devices, but 20% didn't
I have 30 devices connected including security cameras, smart TVs, gaming computers and many phones. I am not facing any problems.
Devices that support 6 and 6E peaks around 300mbps.
I was able to connect more than 40 devices without any issues.
I have noticed that this device only has 3 ethernet ports, one of which is the uplink.
92% appreciated the performance
Our computers and router are running flawlessly and a bit faster now that we have upgraded to the newest TCPIP standard.
I had an issue with the product and contacted TP-Link tech support. Hanson Chan assisted me through the troubleshooting process and efficiently resolved the relatively simple issue. I was impressed with the service provided by Hanson Chan.
I have better coverage in my garage now and the system did not let me down. Despite slower speed than those locations that are close to the modem (>600 Mbps), I still got decent speed which was confirmed by SpeedTest on my laptop at around 200 Mbps, which is reasonable.
87% were impressed with the security features, although 13% weren't
The Deco app offers a step-by-step setup process and complete visibility of the network status and connected devices. TP also provides a security subscription with anti-virus protection/monitoring, parental controls, VPN, etc.
There are additional security features available for a monthly subscription fee like HomeShield, making it a good option to run the router/gateway and Decos in AP mode.
I can schedule automatic firmware updates, which is a security feature of the whole-home-mesh-wi-fi-system.
I ended up getting an additional node to cover the basement. It's part of the beauty that you can add nodes as needed.
I like the interface with Alexa and can turn guests on/off when needed.
