About TP-Link Deco AXE5400 Tri-Band WiFi 6E Mesh System(Deco XE75)
Overall Feedback:
77% positive
87% praised the intuitive app, but 13% struggled
I find the android app interface really nice with more features than my previous wifi system. I can easily separate 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands, isolate IoT devices, rename devices, schedule reboots, etc.
The Android App is very easy to use and responsive.
I find it frustrating that certain features of the router, specifically port forwarding and DDNS, must be managed through the app instead of the web UI.
There is a major problem with the device where packets drop every 2-5 minutes, affecting performance-centric activities like voice, video, and games.
91% praised the coverage area, but 9% found dead spots
Initially, I thought the coverage was good, but later realized there were still plenty of deadspots despite fairly spaced modules covering most of the house.
89% liked the customizable settings, yet 11% found them limited
I worked with a knowledgeable and nice lady and with a couple of setting changes, it happened.
The app is easy to use with just the right amount of detail, despite some reviewers' comments.
On the webpage, limited settings are available, but customization settings require the app.
I am frustrated that the system only has an app option and no web interface.
95% found it easy to set up
Setting up and administering the whole-home-mesh-wi-fi-system is easy.
Setting up this whole-home mesh Wi-Fi system with Xfinity Comcast internet was very easy.
81% liked the ability to support many devices, but 19% didn't
This system can support over 150 devices without slowing down.
I have 30 devices connected to the system and it is working fine without any problems.
I was able to connect more than 40 devices without any issues.
I have noticed that this device only has 3 ethernet ports, one of which is the uplink.
Rephrased: This device has only 3 ethernet ports, one of which is the uplink.
93% appreciated the performance
I had an issue with the WIFI mesh and called TP-Link tech support. Hanson Chan, the technician, did a great job of walking me through the troubleshooting process and resolved the issue, which was pretty simple.
The whole-home-mesh-wi-fi-system has much better coverage in my garage now and still provides decent speed of around 200 Mbps, despite being slower than locations close to the modem.
87% were impressed with the security features, although 13% weren't
The system has smart features like AI-assisted management that optimizes network channels and device connections. It also includes parental controls, guest networks, and built-in security for peace of mind.
The Deco app offers a step-by-step setup process and full visibility to the network status and connected devices. Additionally, TP sells a security subscription with anti-virus protection/monitoring, parental controls, VPN, etc.
I was able to check my internet speed, set up profiles, and update firmware on my devices using the router.
I recommend the system to anyone looking for speed, security, and reliability all in one package.
There are additional security features available for a monthly subscription fee like HomeShield, which is another reason to run our router/gateway and to run these Decos in AP mode.
The previous model had free virus scan and security features, but the current model requires a payment of $100 for the first year and $180 after that.
I find the android app interface really nice with more features than my previous wifi system. I can easily separate 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands, isolate IoT devices, rename devices, schedule reboots, etc.
The android app interface is really nice and has more features than my previous wifi system. I can do specific features with the app.
