About TP-Link Deco AX3000 WiFi 6 Mesh System(Deco X55)
Overall Feedback:
78% positive
94% praised the intuitive app, but 6% struggled
I found the phone app very useful for checking and configuring the installation, as well as monitoring attached devices and their nodes.
The deco app alerts me when an unknown device tries to access my wifi and allows me to block them.
The mobile app is great, showing all connected devices and network performance. It was also very easy to install.
I am pleased with the app as it provides a lot of functionality and allows me to work through most everything I need to do right from the app on my phone.
I have doubts about the 6500 sq ft coverage claim based on my own testing of signal strength using my iPhone 14 and iPad. There are still some low power coverage spots in my 2000 sq ft home.
87% liked the customizable settings, yet 13% found them limited
If you are on a streaming system, prioritize connecting your TV and set it on the network listing for reliable TV shows.
Setting up and managing the system is easy through the Deco app, which offers quick installation and convenient control over network settings.
I was able to lock the connection on older 2.4 only devices to avoid attempting to connect on 5 gHz, which shows that I have used the customization settings of the whole-home-mesh-wi-fi-systems.
I am unable to find the option to rename the Deco units or connected devices, even though it should be an easy task.
96% found it easy to set up
Setting up and managing the system is easy through the Deco app, which allows for quick installation and convenient control over network settings.
It was easy for me to install and use the app. Setting it up to connect to the router and link up to the unit upstairs was also a breeze.
Setting up the mesh system was easy, especially since it was my first experience with the technology.
The first unit auto detected the second one and practically configured itself.
92% liked the ability to support many devices, but 8% didn't
I like that the X55 has 3 gigabit ports on each tower to connect various devices.
TP-Link allows any Deco node to switch from being a repeater to a router.
I had to plug new wifi SSID/Password into 20+ smart devices across the house and realized how much demand I have on my wifi.
94% appreciated the performance, but 6% experienced issues
Setting up and maintaining the router is easy with firmware updates and its performance has been fantastic.
When I use the router for over a month without restarting, I notice that its speed goes down to around 50% of the input line speed.
Compared to my previous nighthawk router, the network performance is pretty poor.
89% were impressed with the security features, although 11% weren't
This system has both WPA2 and WPA3, unlike other systems like Google mesh that allowed hackers into my home.
The product has great security features such as adding VPN directly to the network, network health monitoring, prioritizing devices for WiFi, grouping devices, and assigning them to family members for setting kids' WiFi to turn on/off at certain times.
I like the app because it shows all active and inactive devices, their connection preferences and which router they are using/should use.
I have to pay for the Security+ software on this model, which is disappointing since my previous model had all the network protection features for free.
I find the android app interface really nice with more features than my previous wifi system. I can easily separate 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands, isolate IoT devices, rename devices, schedule reboots, etc.
The mobile app is easy to set up and has a simplistic design. No web interface has been seen.
