About Linksys Velop Pro 6E WiFi Mesh System
Overall Feedback:
69% positive
75% praised the intuitive app, but 25% struggled
The app has limited settings in the web interface, but it was sufficient for my needs.
Once the initial setup is done, I can access the router directly to modify settings, but the app is an odd imposition.
78% praised the coverage area, but 22% found dead spots
The coverage area of these whole-home-mesh-wi-fi-systems is good.
I have only 1900 square feet and 2 units were not enough to cover the entire house, despite the advertised coverage area of 6000 square feet.
89% liked the customizable settings, yet 11% found them limited
The app has limited settings in the web interface, but it is more than enough for my needs.
The router allows me to customize naming 2.4, 5, and 6ghz the same and chooses the best option based on the device and its proximity to the node.
Once I completed the initial setup, I could access the router directly and modify my settings, although I found the app to be an odd imposition.
I had to search for advanced settings to define my IP range, DNS servers, etc. This indicates that the customization settings of the whole-home-mesh-wi-fi-systems are not easily accessible or user-friendly.
80% found it easy to set up, while 20% had trouble
I love the mesh wifi system so much that I have it in four locations. There are no wifi dropouts for me and I rely on wifi calling since I live in a rural area with no cell service at home. I also work in TV production and stream video to my computer all day long with no lag.
Once the initial setup is done, I can access the router directly and modify settings. The app is an odd imposition.
81% liked the ability to support many devices, but 19% didn't
I only have 5 devices and the old router should have been able to handle it.
78% appreciated the performance, but 22% experienced issues
The mesh system has the same level of performance as Eeero 6e ax5400 as it has a Qualcomm chip.
I have been using Linksys for 20 years and specifically EA 8300/AC2200. I wasn't getting the desired speed, so I researched WiFi 6, 6e, and 7 and decided to switch to a WiFi 6E mesh router.
The mesh system is expensive and does not perform as expected. It is not different from a single point router in terms of obstacles.
I was surprised to find that the upload speeds were only half of what my FiOS fiberoptic symmetric service was providing.
77% were impressed with the security features, although 23% weren't
I bought this model because it has a Qualcomm chip compared to other mesh systems with unknown or Mediatek and was offered at a competitive price.
As an advanced user, I had to search for advanced settings to define my IP range, DNS servers, etc. This suggests that configuring the security features of the whole-home-mesh-wi-fi-systems requires some effort and is not easily accessible.
The Eero App serves as the hub of control, displaying node status, download and upload status, connected devices, and other information.
