I had to loosen the nut holding the gooseneck and file the clamp hole to make it adjustable. Now the assembly swings to the side, out of the way until next time.
It may be better to adjust the neck and place the webcam in the desired position before clamping the stand because the neck is very stiff and not easy to adjust.
I have complained that the clip is not strong enough to prevent movement while adjusting the goose-neck, making it difficult to adjust the webcam.
