About Midland ER50 Emergency Radio with Weather Alert and Flashlight
69% liked the long-lasting battery life, while 31% experienced short battery life
The battery life is very poor and it needs to be charged through USB cable, hand crank or solar power. It takes at least 12 hours to charge.
I advise against buying the product due to its poor battery life.
The rechargeable battery died after 1 month of storage and 6 hours of use.
I placed the radio in the sun for 8 hours and the bars never increased, indicating poor battery life.

71% praised for its rugged design, but 29% experienced broken parts
I am not willing to test the durability of the weather-radio by bouncing it off of rocks or having it rolling around in the back of a pickup bed. However, it looks and feels like it could take a fair amount of abuse, as some of the review articles have attested to.
The outside body is durable, but the antenna is poorly designed and sticks out past the body, making it easy to snap off.
When I picked up the radio after months, I heard large components sliding and banging around inside of it. This indicates that the product is not durable.
I have to replace the battery every year and the warranty only covers it for a year, not the battery.

77% found the interface easy to use, while 23% found it confusing
This radio is easy to use with simple button presses for important features and has good reception, pulling in signals from stations my other home radios barely receive.
The radio has clear receiver reception and an easy-to-use digital display. It's also easy to dial in stations.
I cannot say if it is easy to use or has good battery life because I cannot use or charge it as it comes in the package.
76% liked its compact and lightweight design, while 24% found it bulky
I like the options to power it and find it useful when the local power is out, internet is dead and cell towers are not operational.
The power switch is almost impossible to see and operate, which could be a problem with portability.
68% praised for its strong signal reception, while 32% experienced poor reception
I have noticed that the 2200mAh version has better sensitivity on weak AM signals at night, indicating a stronger signal strength.
The weather radio can pull in signals from stations that my other home radios barely receive, so the reception is very good.
During the hurricane, the radio's signal strength was inconsistent and unreliable, making it useless.
75% praised for its loud and clear sound, but 25% experienced poor audio quality
The sound quality of the radio is average or on par with the other two weather radios previously mentioned.
I am dissatisfied with the sound quality of the radio. It is atrocious and I am deducting one star for that.
The sound quality is poor.
The sound quality is tinny, like a Playskool radio.
