About Strathmore 481-7 400 Series Softcover Toned Tan Art Sketch Journal
Overall Feedback:
81% positive
68% appreciated minimal bleed and feathering
I have noticed that there is only slight buckling to wet media and no bleed through.
89% liked the size and thickness
The size of the paper is perfect for me to carry around. It measures 8 x 5.5.
The sketchbook is big enough to draw as much as I want and small enough to carry around in my purse.
73% praised the smooth surface texture
The paper in this sketchbook is off-white with a slight texture and holds up well to various mediums. I have used mod podge, graphite, charcoal, watercolor, ink, duct tape, alcohol markers, and other mediums, and the paper provided a durable surface for all of them to work properly.
The thick 140 lb (300 g/m2) paper handles pen and watercolor well and does not warp with light wash.
The texture of the paper is pretty smooth but not too smooth, and it is a vellum finish.
The paper is suitable for detailed line work and is very sturdy, smooth with only the slightest hint of texture.
I find the paper to have poor absorbency and it does not allow the movement and flow I expect from it.
