About Arches Watercolor Block 11x14-inch Natural White 100% Cotton Paper
Overall Feedback:
85% positive
80% found the perfect tooth and absorbency, while 20% had issues with paper buckling
The paper is very absorbent and does not lose integrity even when loaded up with a lot of water.
Using this paper stopped all of my watercolor struggles.
I have complained about the watercolor paper's absorbency, particularly the dark spots that ruin my work. I used to notice only one or two, but now there are many noticeable dark spots.
69% appreciated minimal bleed and feathering, but 31% experienced excessive spreading
The surface of the paper will bubble up slightly when wet, but return to its flat stage when dry. It is bound on all four sides with a small slit to release the paper when the painting is finished.
I am disappointed with the quality of the paper, especially with the bleed and feathering. I expected better quality considering the cost of the paper.
The corner of the block was bent and squished, resulting in every single page having the same defect.
I am disappointed with the paper I received as it is not white as expected. There is no indication on the cover that it is black and it is not related to bleed and feathering of watercolor-paper.
84% praised the smooth surface texture, but 16% found it too rough
This is my all-time favorite watercolor paper because it is durable and has a good surface texture for color lifting.
When wet, the surface of the watercolor paper bubbles up slightly but returns to its flat stage when dry.
I noticed stubborn dark spots appearing on the paper and worked around or disguised them. Initially, there were only one or two spots, but now there are many noticeable dark spots which ruin the work.
Arches watercolor paper has better absorbency and brighter pigment.
