I have personally tested the maximum range of walkie-talkies which is 6 miles across a local river from one park to another with a few trees in the way.
The range of our walkie-talkies is only 1/4 mile, which is reliable, but not as per the specification.

The battery life is amazing, lasting almost a week and a half with constant use. However, the batteries that come with it are not the best. I recommend using duracell or energizer batteries.

After 6 months of use, my battery life has decreased even more and I burn through batteries in about 12 hours.
