I connected my old VCR/DVD player to a new Samsung high definition 4k television using the RCA to HDMI converter and it worked great.
This converter allows me to connect my devices to an HDMI input on my new, modern, smart TV.
I was unable to connect my Sega Genesis to my 4k tv via the composite video/audio ports. I bought this device and it worked perfectly for me.

I used to have a different video converter which was not durable as it used MiniUSB for a power source which was hardly used in anything and I couldn't find the cord. But, this one uses Micro USB which is easily found anywhere.
