The USB-to-VGA adapter works perfectly.
When I plugged the USB-C to VGA cable into my laptop's USB-C port and the VGA connector on a VGA-only LG monitor, the system did not detect another display.
My wire stopped working and doesn't hold a secure connection into my computer's USB-C port. It stops working every couple of hours and the screen flashes in and out until I fiddle with the wire to re-secure the connection.
I found the cable to be defective as the second monitor started flickering once plugged in.
