Even my Mac Studio Max does not support high power from its two front facing USB C ports.
The OWC Ministack STX requires an external power source and creates clutter with an extra cable and power supply on my desktop.
I read somewhere that the USB hub cannot handle bus powered drives due to insufficient power.
It would have been better if we had provided a DC power cord or an additional USB C port for power instead of going with the older and slower drive type.

The front ports provide easy access for SD card downloads and upload/download of USB drives, which has proven to be a very positive purchase for my needs.
The downside of this product is that it sacrifices one Thunderbolt 3 port for additional USB 3 ports, located both on the front and back of the unit.
I would have liked ports on the back for attaching more permanent devices. Using a USB-C port is a significant sacrifice.
