About Winegard FlatWave Air FL6550A Amplified Digital Outdoor HDTV Antenna 60 Mile Range
Overall Feedback:
75% positive
82% were satisfied with the signal range, but 18% experienced dropouts
The signal strength ranges from 80% to the upper 90s.
The FlatWave Air antenna added two channels and improved the signal range from 40-60% to 50-75%, which is a significant improvement compared to the older antenna on the roof.
With the enclosed pre-amp, I can get strong signals even in a location with many trees nearby and a gutter directly ahead. I believe the range of this unit is 60 miles.
I was able to pick up channels without any problem despite living 40-45 miles away from the broadcast towers.
I could only pick up 10 of the available stations with the antenna, even with the amplifier, and half of those were significantly pixilated.
I mounted the antenna at 30 feet but it couldn't receive a signal from towers 32 miles away. Despite its supposed range of 60+, I am dissatisfied with its performance.
82% found it multi-directional, nevertheless, 18% experienced signal loss
I recommend Winegard MS2002 to anyone looking for an external antenna. It is circular in design and needs no positioning.
The antenna has a directional range of about 90 degrees before any major drop in signal strength, but it could be due to my proximity to the towers.
I pointed the antenna towards the TV station towers to check if the location would work.
I installed the antenna per the instructions and pointed with a compass at the majority of stations in my area.
When I turned the face of the antenna to pick up signals in one direction, the tower signals from other directions became weak or lost.
83% appreciated its compatibility with other tv models
If you have an old VHF/UHF band antenna, it picks up all the HDTV stations and more.
82% found it weather resistant, but 18% encountered issues
I bought the antenna to have local broadcasts when my satellite goes out in the rain.
I have not used the antenna during heavy rains, so I cannot comment on its weather resistance.
I purchased the unit with the intention of having a weather-resistant outdoor antenna.
During moderate rain, snow, or even 5-10 mph wind, the antenna signal is unstable.
79% were satisfied with the signal boosting power, yet 21% weren't
I pointed the antenna at the furthest station and still get all of the stations most of the time.
The amplified version of the antenna gives a stronger signal reading until the fading occurs.
I am trying to find a way to boost the signal strength by 10db to eliminate some signal drops.
I replaced my old antenna with FlatWave and it has 50% greater range. The signal strength on the weakest channel went to 78, mounted in the same location (outside wall, 2nd floor).
I was able to get 28 clear channels in a rural area between Indianapolis and Louisville.
