About Channel Master EXTREMEtenna Long Range Multi-Directional Outdoor TV Antenna - 80 Mile Range
Overall Feedback:
75% positive
82% found it multi-directional, nevertheless, 18% experienced signal loss
The antenna picks up signals from 180 degrees instead of one direction.
No antenna is totally omni-directional, which means it needs to be pointed towards a specific tower.
I suggest adding a directional Hi-V antenna pointed at the Hi-V tower and joining the two antenna lines.
The antenna needs to be pointed towards the transmitting location.
83% appreciated its compatibility with other tv models
For those who are 30 miles away from the antenna and don't require a super-directional antenna due to hills or trees, and only need UHF, I recommend this antenna.
82% found it weather resistant, but 18% encountered issues
The Channel Master 4021hd antenna's small size is advantageous as it remains unaffected by wind.
I lose some SF stations when there is heavy rain or fog or high wind. 4228 might help in such conditions.
79% were satisfied with the signal boosting power, yet 21% weren't
I am getting signal strengths in the mid 80s on almost all channels and sometimes it jumps to high 90s if there are storms rolling in.
I achieved perfect signal strength by adjusting the antenna twice to reach the furthest stations.
I highly recommend purchasing a good pre-amp to boost the signal and limit strong signal noise.
I boosted the signal strength of a hard to get station by 130% using the antenna, bringing it to almost 80% signal strength.
The antenna is appropriate for zones and distances to transmission towers, but not adequate based on signal strength.
81% liked the signal strength, however 19% faced connectivity issues
I installed the antenna outdoors at a height of 15ft and can receive stations with no dropout at a signal strength of -58dbm (30 mile dist) according to TV Fool.
The signal strength is very strong and there is no signal break-up.
I recommend this antenna for local stations with towers less than 30 to 40 miles away and towers located within a 30 degree arc from the front only.
I added a pre-amp that improved reception from both towers 70 miles away.
I haven't paid for cable in almost a decade, so I've been using a tv-antenna for a long time. It's well worth the effort to install and optimize the antenna's position and add amplification if necessary.
To position the antenna, one person can adjust it while another reports on the reception of stations at a television. Once the optimal position is found, securely fix the antenna to prevent movement over time.
With the combination of the antenna and an in-line signal amplifier, I was able to receive major networks (NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC) at 70-80% signal strength and other stations at least 50% signal strength.
After setting up the antenna, my signal strength for that station went slightly above 80, which was my expectation.
Nearby stations have high signal strength even when they are 90 degrees from the antenna direction.
I achieved perfect signal strength after adjusting twice to reach the furthest stations.
The signal quality is unstable and varies greatly due to disturbances, causing an unpleasant viewing experience, especially with digital TV where picture and sound vanish completely when signal quality drops below a certain threshold.
To get good reception, I have to aim the antenna quite precisely (within 5 degrees) with the front facing towards Mt. Wilson. Even a slight movement away from this direction weakens the signals. While most channels are still watchable, a few become blocky and have signal strength less than 35%, making reception unreliable.
82% were satisfied with the signal range, but 18% experienced dropouts
The towers in Albuquerque are 65 miles away from my location.
I installed the antenna outdoors at a height of 15ft and can receive stations with no dropout at a signal strength of -58dbm (30 mile dist) according to TV Fool.
Initially, I picked up only a few stations with just the antenna, but after adding an electroline 8 port powered signal amplifier, I was able to pick up 50+ channels.
I purchased and added a pre-amp which improved the level of reception from both towers which are 70 miles distant.
My location is 83 miles away from the broadcasting tower of Los Angeles and 43 miles away from the broadcasting tower of San Diego.
I couldn't pick up or got a weak signal for many of the same stations only 33 miles away with the Channel Master antenna even though it advertises up to 80 miles.
I am not receiving any signal from a tower that is 65 miles away.
I returned 2 antennas because they could not receive signals from the towers 30-40 miles away.
80% appreciated its compatibility with other tv models
78% found it weather resistant

Over the years, the antenna has provided sufficient signal to reach all of my TVs.
