I noticed that the toaster produces uneven browning on slices regardless of the bread type or setting used.
I tried to increase the darkness above 4 on the dial but still only toasted the outer edges of each slice.

The bagel setting doesn't work as expected. The heating elements on the outside do not shut off while the inner elements heat up the inside of the bagel slices. Instead, the machine turns on every element full blast and the bagel setting makes no difference.
