About Honeywell Home RPLS730B1000/U RPLS730B1000 7-Day Programmable Light Switch Timer
Overall Feedback:
77% positive
72% liked the compatibility, although 28% had issues
I warn that this timer switch is not compatible with wiring that does not have a neutral line.
65% appreciated the customization options, although 35% didn't
I found that the timer switch has multiple options for times and days, but it requires figuring out how to use it.
66% liked its compact design, but 34% thought it was bulky
If the hot and cold wires are attached backwards, the switch won't work.
This device is a three-wire device, unlike most wall timers which are four-wire devices. The lid covering the display is hinged at the top, making it difficult for people over 3 feet tall to program the device as the lid obscures the display.
The timer has many options for times and days, but it is difficult to figure out how to use it.
The display is hard to read and the door for the programming buttons feels flimsy.
75% found it easy to program, while 25% faced difficulties
Programming is easy, but the display could be made easier to see.
After watching a YouTube video, I found the installation to be quick and programming to be easy.
I had an electrician install a different model that was far easier to program and worked perfectly.
66% appreciated the remote control, but 34% faced issues
After setting up the automatic on-off schedule, I have to manually switch from manual mode to auto mode by pressing the cover plate for 3 seconds.
70% praised the safety features, but 30% had concerns
There is no visible indicator on the switch to show if the light is on or off, except for a small LED readout on the LED face which is hard to read.
70% praised the accurate timing, but 30% experienced issues
There is no adjustment for daylight time and the length of the day is not automatically adjusted.
The device has limited customization options for timer-switches. It is cumbersome to specify start-finish interval that crosses midnight, requiring two independent intervals to be programmed.
I suggest grounding the switch by using a multimeter to confirm the electrical box is grounded and then attaching the ground wire to it from the switch lead.
I found it easy to program on/off times and love the option to turn off the timer after a certain amount of hours.
