About REGIS Kalimba 8 Key exquisite Finger Thumb Piano Marimba
Overall Feedback:
75% positive
67% appreciated the solid construction, though 33% found it flimsy
The instrument is beautiful.
I was surprised by the impeccable quality and durability of the product, considering its price. However, the '4' tire went flat on the first day and it appears to be unfixable.
More than half the notes are a bit sharp out of the box. Although it is not badly out of tune, I wish the manufacturer would have taken the time to tune it before shipping.
The thumb-piano I played had tines cut from different composite metals with varying thicknesses and widths, making it non-tunable. This differs from the tuneable kalimbas I have played, which had identical tines except for length.
68% liked its stylish and modern design, while 32% found it dull and uninspired
The product has a simple design and only 8 keys.
I like to keep it out in the open because it looks sharp on the table or counter and even my husband picks it up and fidgets on it.
The instrument size is too small and the tines are too close together for adult hands to play.
70% found it easy to play, but 30% had trouble navigating the keys
The thumb piano is too small and the tines are too close together for adult hands to play.
69% liked its compact and lightweight design
I appreciate the portability of the thumb piano with its carry case, making it easy to take with me wherever I go, including to bed or while traveling.
At first, it was fun and easy for me to learn.
66% praised the clear and rich sound, while 34% found it tinny
The sound is good and the metal sounds very soft and soothing, but the keys are too small for long or loud sounds.
The thumb piano is small and produces a soft sound.
65% praised its tuning stability, though 35% experienced frequent tuning issues
I wish the seller had taken the time to tune the notes before shipping as more than half of them are a bit sharp out of the box.
The thumb-piano appears to be untuneable and the tines are cut from different composite metals with varying thicknesses and widths.
I suggest buying a Kalimba hammer-tuner to tune the instrument as it is not in tune out of the box.
I am dissatisfied with the build quality of the kalimba. It has buzzing and dead tines and does not work properly, despite being labeled as a high-quality instrument. I paid close to $100 for it. This review expresses my negative feedback regarding the build quality of thumb-pianos.
I appreciate the design and aesthetics of the thumb-piano, specifically the weight of the wooden body, which contributes to the harmonious and melodic sound.
The kalimba is attractively designed and solidly built with beautiful wood and tines that resonate well with decent sustain.
