About HONHAND Kalimba Thumb Piano 17 Keys Bright Green
Overall Feedback:
94% positive
94% appreciated the solid construction, though 6% found it flimsy
One of the high notes is tinny and has no ring, making it seem like it is not even present on my instrument.
The quality of my thumb-piano seems good, but the upper notes on both are not clean, meaning when I pluck one, I get other sounds and notes as well.
I found the keys of the kalimba to be rough and not as smooth as other kalimbas I have played, making it harder and less pleasant to play. Therefore, I gave this kalimba 3 stars.
94% liked its stylish and modern design
I was amazed by the beauty of the kalimba. It has a layered coloring and depth to the grain and a radiant finish that is unlike anything I have ever seen on any instrument. I also compared it to a jewel-like object.
98% found it easy to play, but 2% had trouble navigating the keys
I found the thumb-piano very easy to learn and use, even after a short time. I was able to sound many things out by ear, although with some goofs.
I have played the kalimba for hundreds of hours and expected to jump right in with this one - but the keys are rough. The keys on the others were smooth and polished on all sides; these are only smooth on the top. I can feel the roughness on the sides as the keys are depressed and when swiping the thumbs to play chords, which makes playing them harder to do, and if I pick my kalimba up by the keys the underside feels like I have grabbed a piece of somewhat rough grit sandpaper.
One high note is tinny and has no ring, making it useless.
89% liked its compact and lightweight design, while 11% found it cumbersome
I was surprised to find a crack running the length of the instrument when I opened the case.
97% praised the clear and rich sound, while 3% found it tinny
I compared the sound quality of this kalimba with other kalimbas and found it to be louder and different. I also compared it with other instruments like harp, bells and steel drums.
The quality of the thumb-pianos seems good, but the upper notes are not clean. However, the bottom notes are very clear and all the notes were very in tune.
One high note on my instrument sounds tinny and may as well not even be there.
I am dissatisfied with the build quality of the kalimba. It has buzzing and dead tines and does not work properly, despite being labeled as a high-quality instrument. I paid close to $100 for it. This review expresses my negative feedback regarding the build quality of thumb-pianos.
I appreciate the design and aesthetics of the thumb-piano, specifically the weight of the wooden body, which contributes to the harmonious and melodic sound.
