About Celestron - 70mm Travel Scope - Portable Refractor Telescope
Overall Feedback:
84% positive
75% appreciated the smooth and precise adjustments, while 25% found them stiff
I adjust the sight scope using 3 crude screws placed at regular intervals along the circumference of the tube.
The tripod is the only reason I did not give it a 5-star rating. Adjusting it can be tedious as it is either too tight or too loose when traversing and elevating.
The tension screws are cheap and it's difficult to keep the telescope at the desired position while adjusting for up and down due to pre-set positions.
78% praised for its durable construction, but 22% noticed scratches on the lenses
The tripod is not strong enough for the telescope. Even the slightest touch shakes the telescope and what I am looking at disappears.
78% found it easy to set up and use
This scope is great and easy to use for quick observing or camping trips, unlike my 8in scope which is heavy and difficult to carry around.
Setting it up is very easy, but the first time takes longer as everything needs to be attached together.
It is easy to carry and put together.
77% praised for its crystal-clear optics, while 23% noticed slight distortion
The pictures are misleading. It looks much clearer through my own eyes.
I found that the scope did not provide a clear sharp image of birds that are a few hundred feet away.
82% liked its compact and lightweight design
The telescope is highly portable and can be used as a finder on a bigger scope.
75% liked the sturdy and balanced design, although 25% found it wobbly
I found the adjustments for the tripod to be stiff and it was difficult to keep anything in frame. If I moved it just slightly, everything would go out of frame.
The tripod that comes with my telescope is fairly unstable as it is just a regular camera tripod.
The scope jitters so much that it's difficult to look at anything and results in a red/blue squiggle worm dancing in the eye piece.

Adjusting the telescope-refractor is quite tricky and requires lining it up to the near image in the telescope before looking further away.
