I use the flashlight's different brightness levels for various purposes. The medium output is suitable for walking in complete darkness, the low output for up-close tasks or seeing the area immediately around me, and the high output for identifying things at a good distance. However, I am cautious while using the high mode as it can be blinding if shined in someone's face.
The light is well constructed and as bright as many competing brands.
