The 6V batteries have a long glow life and are handy for emergencies. They are also easy to place on a surface without rolling off due to their weight and form.
The flashlight comes with batteries and an adapter for AA cells, and optional adapters are available for D-size cells or a full size 6V lantern battery.
I like the lantern style of my flashlight and have one for each room in my house. They sit perfectly on their ends and light up the room well, making it easy to navigate in case of power loss.
