About TIMBOOTECH Wireless HDMI Transmitter and Receiver 4K
Overall Feedback:
87% positive
90% appreciated the connectivity options, but 10% wished more
I use a cable with an antenna that plugs into USB type A for power and USB type C for the dongle.
I asked about the technology used for wireless syncing between my laptop and TV.
77% liked the remote control, but 23% didn't
Setup and operation were simple and the device was an elegant solution to cumbersome cords, switches, buttons and the like. However, it stopped working after 3 months.
Without the one click function, the entire setup becomes inoperable, rendering our $50 product useless.
My receiver is always flashing and the TV does not recognize the receiver HDMI is connected. The transmitter led is always on solid.
76% praised the streaming options, but 24% didn't
The product is doing a great job.
I did not test media playing or streaming as my use was office-based, sending UHD signal from a laptop to an UHD projector, which was not successful. Based on my experience, I can say this.
The audio is only 2.0 and there is no stereo or any version over 2.0. It was not revealed in the ad and I found it in the FAQ after the fact.
83% liked the intuitive user interface, but 17% found it cluttered
The setup process was relatively simple. The two dongles look alike but differ by small lettering of tx or rx on the top. The receive uses a cable with an antenna on it and plugs into USB type A for power (and plugs into the dongle with USB type C).
The interface works somewhat for what I need out of this computer.
The screen froze after some time.
80% appreciated the video quality, though 20% experienced issues
While playing YouTube videos off my PC, I noticed that the video quality is not up to the mark and there is a lag of a second at less than 30 fps which is annoying.
65% found the voice control convenient, but 35% faced issues
The transmitter has useful features such as adjusting volume and frequencies and syncing with other compatible devices.
There is a slight lag of a few milliseconds, which could make a difference when projecting a movie. However, for my use (without audio), it works perfectly.
Initially, I thought the dongle supported DLNA out of the box, but it only mirrors the client screen. However, it's not a big deal if I run a DLNA app on my mobile device connected to this thing.
I decided to try the wireless option because running another cable would be difficult.
