About TIMBOOTECH Wireless HDMI Transmitter and Receiver 4K
Overall Feedback:
87% positive
90% appreciated the connectivity options, but 10% wished more
I use a receiver that uses a cable with an antenna and plugs into USB type A for power and USB type C for the dongle.
I faced issues with Windows recognizing the wireless display option, but resolved it by changing the airplay from "auto" to mirror stream on my phone.
I have noticed a lag on some media, like buffering while watching a sermon online.
When I used it, the connection was very sensitive and any movement caused things to blank.
77% liked the remote control, but 23% didn't
I tried everything but the receiver still didn't work.
Setup and operation were simple and it was an elegant solution to cumbersome cords, switches, buttons and the like. However, it stopped working after 3 months.
75% praised the streaming options, but 25% didn't
The device is doing a great job.
This product is misleading as it claims to have 4K streaming options but in reality, it is not possible to stream 4K to any device using this transmitter and receiver.
I did not test media playing or streaming as my use was limited to sending UHD signal from a laptop to an UHD projector, which was not successful. Therefore, my experience was not very rich.
I noticed that the product only has a version up to 2.0 and no stereo.
83% liked the intuitive user interface, but 17% found it cluttered
When I first connect, a blue menu screen appears which should go away after selecting my preferred language.
When I connect the receiver dongle to a display and power it up, I follow these steps.
I suggest including a clear page directing users to a web page with detailed instructions.
The user interface is a little laggy.
80% appreciated the video quality, though 20% experienced issues
I have noticed that the picture quality is excellent with no drop in resolution or quality.
The video quality is mostly smooth and pretty stable, but not perfect.
For simple graphical displays like Powerpoint/slides, the picture quality is okay. However, for more complex items like large moving items or general movies, there is strong stuttering.
At less than 30 fps, there is a general lag of a second which is annoying.
65% found the voice control convenient
The transmitter has useful features such as adjusting volume and frequencies, and syncing with other compatible devices.
Initially, I thought the dongle supported DLNA out of the box, but it only mirrors the client screen. However, it's not a big deal if I run a DLNA app on my mobile device connected to this thing.
