About Amazon Fire TV Cube Hands-free streaming device with Alexa
68% appreciated the connectivity options, but 32% wished more
I bought the product to connect via ethernet and turn off WiFi, but I was not able to disable WiFi.
The ethernet port on the Cube maxes out at 100 megabits per second.
68% liked the remote control, but 32% didn't
I have used various devices to control my TV, AV Receiver and other devices via remote and IR devices, but with the Fire Cube, I use voice more than the remote.
I searched online and found a solution to program the remote to turn off both the television and the receiver by connecting the Fire TV Cube directly through one of the television HDMI inputs.
I have a problem with the remote control of my streaming media player. The Fire TV remote control should be redesigned to be a little bigger to accommodate fat arthritic fingers - too many buttons that are too close together. The Mute button being in a different place is taking some time to get used to. It would be nice if the four app buttons were programmable.
The Fire TV Cube Equipment Control setup process for controlling my TV and Receiver (turning On and Off) is not good and fails to control my LG TV and Yamaha Receiver.
66% praised the streaming options, but 34% didn't
The playback quality and streaming viewing options are great, but the user interface needs improvement.
I have to go to the APP location to access more than 5 streaming favorites as they are limited in the browser.
68% liked the intuitive user interface, but 32% found it cluttered
The interface to use apps like Netflix, Youtube, Prime, and Hulu is good enough, but could be better.
I am dissatisfied with the user interface of the streaming media player. I cannot categorize the movies and shows I add to my watchlists in all the different apps. I wish I could create tabs and name them arbitrarily. The streaming apps themselves should code for such organization internally so I could do the same there.
Due to the poor user interface filled with ads, I am not able to utilize the fast CPU.
I am frustrated with the user interface of the streaming media player. It is absolutely horrific with lots of bugs. It fails on me at least once every single day and most often the only option is to reset the device, which does not always work. I had to reset it like 20x the other day just to watch Star Trek TNG.
66% appreciated the video quality, though 34% experienced issues
When I streamed shows on Paramount plus using WiFi 6e, the video quality was excellent and started almost instantly without any buffering or delays.
The video started almost instantly without any buffering or delays.
Video playback and quality are generally okay, but it tends to stutter at times for no apparent reason.
63% found the voice control convenient, but 37% faced issues
Controlling the TV with voice commands, including turning it on, going to Netflix, and adjusting the volume, makes it worth it.
At times, I have trouble with basic voice commands on the cube.
Gen 3 sometimes doesn't pick up voice commands, but pressing the microphone button on the remote and speaking into it is the best solution.
The voice control is not as smooth as I expected and not worth the extra syllables.
